A couple of weeks ago this game was probably a bit of a foregone conclusion with Cockburn stuck towards the foot of the ladder and looking as if they were heading towards relegation. A strong 8-0 result away at Dalkeith has given them some renewed hope and they may even go into this one as favourites. South Perth also good winners last week at home but the loss of stalwarts Neale Griffin and Doc Mortley really hurt their chances this week. This should be a close match but I think Cockburn might just have their noses in front and come away with a hard fought win on the weekend.
Cockburn 6-2

Well I think anything could happen in this one and it probably will. Dalkeith don’t really like leaving the Western suburbs and face the long trip down the freeway to Rockingham who are another side that can mix their form. Rockingham if they fire could walk away with a big win particularly if Dalkeith bring their B game. However, Dalkeith have shown that they are capable of competing with the better sides and sometimes teams can play their best bowls with their season on the line. They are more than capable of causing an upset and this could be another match that will go down to the wire. But at home I need to run with the home team to get away with a narrow win.
Rockingham 6-2
Gosnells v Armadale
Gosnells
Ronald McKay, Trevor Auckland, Maureen Cooney, Michael Rickard
Ian Quayle, Peter Gale, Brett Holland, Mark Beauchamp
Tusha Jolliffe, Kevin Cragan, Michael Sharpe, Kelvin Pearce
David Bradbury, Stephen Lawrence, Rod Worth, Rue Bishop INS: Quayle, Worth OUTS: Ashman, Beauchamp
Top of the table vs bottom of the table and this should be the easiest match to tip on the weekend. Armadale have taken all before them this season but still have work to do to make sure of top spot. They will be in no mood to drop this match with complacency probably their biggest obstacle. Gosnells have played their best bowls at home and whilst they should give a good account of themselves Armadale should be far too good and walk away with a very comfortable victory.
Willetton
Mervyn Binning, Peter Bartoshefski, Ken Monkhouse, Alan Walters
Peter McSweeney, Susan Bartels, Margaret Berson, Justin Wright
John Porter, Mick Phillips, Joshua Calyun, Cameron Girvan
Nicholas Rogers, Barry Baker, Trevor Thompson, Gavin Dodge INS: Berson, Calyun OUTS: Heiner, Reynolds
Little bit of a local derby this one and match of the round status with Rossmoyne looking to continue a run of outstanding form against a Willetton outfit that look to be back on song. Rossmoyne now in touch of 3rd place on the ladder and at home they will start as warm favourites. But Willetton are nothing if not determined and with Girvan and Walters leading the way they will be hard to topple. But I think Mayor Lang has a sniff of One White in his nostrils and he will be doing everything in his power to get his side across the line – and I think they should be too good.
Rossmoyne 6-2
Safety Bay v Kardinya
Safety Bay
Faye Capewell, Ray Stotter, Damian Kitson, Raymond Clark
Barry Shackles, Brett Duffield, Malcolm Mitchell, Ron Hall
Thomas McDonald, Paul Daynes, Scott Gallon, Steven Adams
Bruce McLean, Raymond Kennedy, David Smith, David Holt INS: Stotter, Kitson, Mitchell OUTS: Harman, Imrie, Burgess
Another very interesting match with both sides having a lot to play for. A few weeks back Safety Bay would have probably started as favourites at home but their form has tapered off somewhat in recent matches. Kardinya still with some chance of getting top spot should Armadale slip up will be keen to win this one however from time to time they can struggle on the road. But not this week I feel – they should put their best foot forward and come away with a narrow win.
